Dominic Thompson, MBBS BSc FRCS(SN), is senior consultant in the Department of Paediatric Neurosurgery, Great Ormond Street Hospital, London (Dominic Thompson).
Dominic Thompson has held positions as the Chairman of the British Paediatric Neurosurgical Group, Scientific Chairman of the European Society of Paediatric Neurosurgery (ESPN), and Secretary of the ESPN. He is on the editorial boards of Child’s Nervous System and Acta Neurochirugica. He is co-section editor of the Spinal Diseases and Anomalies section of the ISPN Guide to Pediatric Neurosurgery.
Mr. Thompson has an interest in the treatment of disorders of the paediatric spine, and, in particular, craniocervical junction anomalies, spinal dysraphism, and spinal tumors. In partnership with the University College London and University of Leuven, he has commenced the first fetal surgery program for spina bifida in the UK. Dominic has an on-going clinical and basic science research program into congenital anomalies of the spine in collaboration with the Department of Developmental Biology Institute of Child Health, London. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and he is a regular faculty member on National and International Paediatric Neurosurgery training courses.[KK1]
